MK Vizion

The Challenge

The C4.1 Vizion building is an extensive new build, residential property development located in Central Milton Keynes. Barretts of Aspley (BoA) were approached by HBG, the main contractor to Barratt Homes to pitch for the contract. BoA successfully tendered to plan, fabricated and install over 400 glazed, architectural steelwork balconies with balustrade, 450 timber screens including 100 sliding timber screens.

Tight timescales were applied due to the Sainsbury's store opening date, which is located on the ground floor of the development.

The Solution

The modern, design led features of the architects drawings demanded that despite the large volume of balconies and screens required, every aspect of the production process must be of the highest quality.

The timber screens were specified as Siberian Larch, which boast consistent aesthetic qualities and is very durable and long lasting. This was therefore the perfect material for the sliding screens. All outsourced materials were extensively quality checked by BoA before being transported to site.

Four highly skilled installation teams worked with the site manager to ensure the extensive build programme stayed on schedule. The lifting of the large timber and glass screens required particular attention to deliver a problem free installation process.

The completed buildings now cast an impressive attribute in the centre of Milton Keynes. The design and finish of the architectural detailing have ensured that the cityscape and the apartment's new owners benefit from a high quality product.
