THE
CHALLENGE
Chelsea Bridge Wharf is a large new-build property development
due to be completed over 4 years and across 4 phases. Barretts
of Aspley (BoA) have been contracted on all four phases to provide
a complete, tailored solution for all Architectural and Structural
Steelwork required to complete the development. Architectural
Products to be supplied and installed include Balconies, Balustrades,
Handrails, Staircases and Railings all requiring the highest
quality finish. In addition to the Architectural requirements,
all phases of the development require Steel Roof Structures
which are included within BoA’s 'supply and fit' remit.
THE SOLUTION
BoA have successfully delivered phases 1 & 2 and are in the process
of finalising the completion of phase 3. BoA are currently proceeding with
the development and construction of phase 4 which will see a further 3 blocks
added to the location.
BoA’s co-ordination of Design, Manufacture and On-site Installation
– all overseen by a dedicated Project Management team – has
ensured all phases completed have been on programme and on budget.
During the initial 3 phases BoA developed a unique installation method which
allowed the balcony installation to reduce the need for scaffolding. This
highly skilled exercise – which has been subjected to, and passed,
stringent Health and Safety procedures – has resulted in significant
time gains to the programme and substantial cost savings to Berkeley Homes.
Phases 1-3 have so far required over 3 kilometres of Stainless Steel Handrails
and glass, 1,000’s of square metres of Balconies and Timber Decking
and 100’s of tonnes of Structural Steel. All products installed have
received top quality finishes throughout including a wide variety of galvanised
Powder Coatings, Timber Decking, polished Stainless Steel and pre-coated
Aluminium to deliver the aesthetic look and feel required of this prestigious
development.
The results speak for themselves with many people already enjoying the view
from their luxury apartments. BoA continues to make massive contributions
to the on-going development of Chelsea Bridge Wharf and provide Architectural
and Structural Steelwork of the highest quality.
