BOA Academy Welcomes First Intake of Apprentices

The first intake of apprentices have joined the company and have embarked on their new careers in fabrication, welding, engineering, design and project management.

Following the launch of the BOA Academy in Autumn 2015, the first intake of apprentices have joined the company and have embarked on their new careers in fabrication, welding, engineering, design and project management.

In the initial intake BOA has recruited 6 welder/fabricator apprentices, a project apprentice and a technical apprentice, all of which are from the local area and between the ages of 16 and 20, looking for an opportunity to kick start their careers.

With the completion of the 10,000 square foot Academy building imminent, the apprentices will be able to work, learn and be assessed in a brand new facility alongside experienced mentors who will give them guidance and training throughout their apprenticeship.

By investing in new buildings and new facilities, the trainees are able to have both their practical and theoretical training and assessments delivered ‘in-house’ by external training providers ATG, as opposed to the traditional route of college day release.

Apprentice co-ordinator Dawn Graham-Young said ‘We are delighted to have recruited the new apprentices to help launch our new Academy. All of the young lads we have taken on have come with exactly the right attitude and are enjoying learning a trade as well as gaining a qualification’

This first intake marks a significant milestone in the development of the Academy and represents an exciting new chapter for Barretts of Aspley.

The Academy will be recruiting new apprentices every year, so if you are interested in a career with us or know of anybody who is, please contact us at info@boa.uk.com
